Proverbs 12:25 “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop, but a good word maketh it glad.”
God understands the heaviness of heart, the hurting soul, the difficulties of life that make us want to give up and quit. He understands the “what’s the use” times in our lives. But, He also understands the nature of man. “A good word maketh it glad.” Wow! We have the power of a good word with us at all times. We have the ability to help those that are down trodden and sad. God says that something as simple as a “good word” can help those who are hurting.
So…what is a “good word”? It could be to encourage someone, to help them see that this too will pass. It could be to let them know you love them and are there for them if they need you. It could be to share a word of Scripture that is uplifting (now that really is a “good Word”). It could be _ _ _ _ _ , you fill in the blanks. The Holy Spirit is available to help you choose words that will be helpful. All you have to do is ask Him!
God says you can encourage, support, build up, and comfort others. What a great opportunity we face every day to use our words to serve the Lord and make someone’s heart glad.
